Our History

Rape Crisis Grampian, (RCG) is a Charity which was formed in 1993 as Aberdeen Rape Crisis. The service was provided by a small group of volunteers who were responsible for the running of the whole organisation.

In 2005 the hard work of the charity was recognised by the Scottish Executive and were able to employ staff. In addition, RCG was able to access additional funding from Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council to further it’s work.

In response to a variety of changes, the charity has recently changed it’s name from Rape and Abuse Support to; Rape Crisis Grampian (RCG) a registered Company Limited by Guarantee (Company Number SC299746) having our Registered Office at Langstane House, 6 Dee Street, Aberdeen. RCG is also a registered Scottish Charity (Charity Number SC019087) and a full member of Rape Crisis Scotland.

In 2014, the charity changed it’s constitution to enable it to support men and boys over the age of 13 years. RCG continues to provide female protected days and times within the service.
